Looks are a very strange thing. While most people tend to look the same throughout their lives, there are always things that change over the years. With that being said, it is very common for people who are very cute during childhood, to have a completely different look after going through puberty. Unfortunately, this different isn’t always better, and some people simply aren’t as nice looking during adulthood as they were as children. For celebrities who enter the industry as children, these changes are even more noticeable as the world watches them grow and change in front of the camera. Frankie Muniz
Frankie Muniz is best-known for his role as the title character on the popular sitcom, Malcolm in the Middle. During his childhood, Muniz also appeared in several film productions, and fans were instantly drawn to his cute face and short stature. However, in 2008, Muniz took a break from acting to pursue a career as a race car driver. Now 29-years-old, Muniz is no longer the cute little kid most people knew and loved. In fact, many people are surprised that he actually didn’t turn out to be cute as an adult.

Mara Wilson
Mara Wilson won over the hearts of millions with her portrayal of Matilda in the film of the same name. Although her career seemed to have great potential, she never really surpassed her role in Matilda and it’s been more than 15 years since her last TV or film appearance. Unfortunately, Wilson also grew out of her cute; baby-faced looks, and is almost unrecognizable as an adult.

Michael Fishman
Michael Fishman had a pretty successful career as a child actor. Throughout the 80s and 90s, he gained mainstream success by playing D.J. Conner on the hit sitcom, Roseanne. Although he was an extremely cute kid, Fishman’s look started to change once he reached adulthood, and he just doesn’t have the same look anymore.

Taran Noah Smith
During his time on Home Improvement, Taran Noah Smith was one of the cutest little brothers on TV. Viewers loved his funny personality and adorable face, but once puberty hit, Smith’s looks definitely began to make a change. Instead of growing into himself like many people do after puberty, Smith got the short end of the stick and actually ended up being rather goofy looking.

Laurence Fishburne
Many people don’t know this, but Laurence Fishburne actually began his acting career as a child. Making his first on-screen appearance in 1972 at just 11-years-old, Fishburne has since gone on to become an extremely successful adult actor. Although Fishburne’s talent is widely recognized throughout the industry, one thing he isn’t well-known for is his good looks. However, seeing images of Fishburne as a child would have suggested otherwise.

Orlando Brown
During the 90s, Orlando Brown appeared in several successful TV and film productions like Major Payne, and Family Matters. Although his career began to decline in the late 90s, but 2003 he landed another starring role on the Disney Channel sitcom, That’s So Raven. Even at that point, brown was already a far cry from the cute kid he used to be, but as time has gone by he’s just proven that being cute as a kid means absolutely nothing for adulthood.

Angus T. Jones
During his time on Two and a Half Men, Angus T. Jones was the highest paid young actor in the business. His undeniable talent and cute chubby cheeks made him a pretty easy character to like. Even as he started to grow, Jones still maintained his cute look, but recently he’s been looking pretty scruffy, and it’s hard to believe he used to be a cute child star.

Sean Astin
You probably remember Sean Astin as little Mikey Walsh from the classic 80s film, The Goonies. Throughout the 80s and 90s, Astin continued to appear in films and his cute face was definitely one of his best selling points. Although he is still working as an adult, at 44-years-old his looks definitely aren’t helping him land roles anymore.

At this point, it’s kind of hard to believe that Clint Howard was ever cute. However, during his child star days, he was a pretty cute kid with a head full of hair. Things have definitely changed since those days and although Howard still gets a lot of attention for his looks, unfortunately it’s not usually positive.

During the 90s, Mayim Bialik rose to fame for her lead role in the popular sitcom, Blossom. Portraying a unique and quirky teenager, Bialik was cute in a nerdy sort of way, and fans were instantly drawn to her on-screen presence. To today’s generation, Bialik is best-known for her role as Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler on The Big Bang Theory. Although Bialik looks very much the same as she did 25 years ago, she’s outgrown the cute look she had as a teen.

During the 80s, when Brian Bosnall ported little Andy Keaton on Family Ties, he was definitely one of the cutest kids on TV. As a result, many assumed that he’d grow up to be a good-looking adult, but sadly that just wasn’t the case. After retiring from acting in 1994, Bosnall pursued a music career, which never really took off. Over the years, he has dealt with addiction and also had several run-ins with the law.

Although it’s unclear why, Voorhies skin appears to have been drastically lightened – but only in certain areas – resulting in a very washed out appearance.

Tahj Mowry really isn’t a bad-looking guy, but he was such a good kid that it would have been almost impossible to live up that as an adult. Although he looks very much the same as he did when he was a child, there’s something about seeing his face on the body of an adult that is just downright confusing. Hey, sometimes it’s hard to see them grow up!
