Maksim Chmerkovskiy & Peta Murgatroyd got married at a castle in NY

Dances With The Stars pros Peta Murgatroyd and Maksim Chmerkovsky got married over the weekend. The couple, who are parents to six-month-old Shia, rented Oheka Castle in Long Island to serve as the backdrop to the lavish affair. The picture above was posted by the people hired to do the photo booth and the backdrop was a giant flower wall. It looks a little like Maks is trying to eat Peta. The location is idyllic as a venue if you favor a big wedding. It’s the best part of Taylor Swift’s Blank Space video, IMO. Following the ceremony was a party Maks said was, “going to be an epic dance party for the ages,” which I guess stands to reason given the couple and attendants.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd, mother of their 6-month-old son Shai and a fellow Dancing With the Stars pro, have tied the knot at Oheka Castle on Long Island, a rep confirms to E! News.

The outlet also reports that the non denominational ceremony was 40 minutes long and that the vows they exchanged in front of 300 guests were self penned.

A source tells E! News that the wedding was a very “elegant and classic” affair, adding that Peta’s makeup artist prepped her and her mother. The aim for the wedding makeup look was to go for a natural style with lashes and a pink lip.

Maks opted for an all-white tuxedo jacket and his groomsmen donned white tuxedo jackets with black trim.

As previously reported by E! News, the Ukrainian and the Kiwi were slated to (and did!) exchange their vows in the 137-room Oheka Castle on Long Island, New York in front of family and friends, including his brother and co-star Val Chmerkovskiy his season 20 partner and actress Rumer Willis, fellow DWTS pro dancer Sharna Burgess and season 18 contestant and Fuller House star Candace Cameron Bure.

So was the entire guest list family and former DWTS contestants? On the one hand, it’s great that they bonded with their dance partners so well. On the other hand, maybe step away from work every once in a while – mix up the social circle a little? One of those DWTS partner’s, Nyle DiMarco, had posted a bunch of pictures from the wedding to his Instagram but they’ve since been taken down as Peta and Maks sold the pics to Us Weekly. We’ll get those next week. For now we just have some fan pages and the ones that E! and People captured before they disappeared. Hopefully they won’t be taken down before you can see them.

However, we do have a few more details like Peta’s dress was a Karen Sabag Couture ball gown and that her shoes were purchased in Maks’ native Ukraine on Peta’s first trip visiting there. The photo posted above indicates there was a dress switch at some point, her ceremony gown is shown below. Shai was carried down the aisle by Peta’s mom and Peta processed down the aisle to Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite, because that’s her favorite album (it’s my favorite classical album too, not that anyone asked). From the photographic evidence we have, everyone seems to have had a wonderful time and it sounds like exactly what the couple wanted. When it comes to weddings, that’s all that matters, isn’t it?

Off topic: I kind of wish Peta would hyphenate because typing out Peta Chmerkovskiy-Murgatroyd enough times might qualify as a workout.

Maks is still trying to eat poor Peta – stick to the buffet, Maks!
